Vampire Academy Film Rights Sold!

Preger Entertainment has acquired the film rights for the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead.  To read the complete article click here. The article also states that Penguin/Razorbill has ordered a new spin off series of The Vampire Academy set to begin in 2011.

I am really excited by this news and I hope Preger Entertainment moves forward with this project soon.  The Vampire Academy is one of my favorite YA series and I think it could be adapted well into a film (mmmm Dimitri in the flesh). While The Vampire Diaries T.V series was well received by fans I am not a fan of the books and felt that of all the YA vamp genre books out there the series by L.J. Smith would not have been my first pic.  Of all the many YA paranormal books available which one do you think would be best suited to make the leap to film or TV? Are you interested in seeing a movie based on The Vampire Academy?

For more lists of books that have been made, in production or in development, check out The Book Guru's BIG List of Books Into Movies here and one of my recent posts with an update on the list of YA movies who's film rights have been recently optioned (all information was gathered from news articles or the Internet Movie Database).

I would love to see VA made into a movie! I think it would be incredibly awesome!

This is exciting. I would have preferred this series to the VD series. Never really got into that one - but you can see how closely it is following the books, LOL.

One of the books I have been waiting to come out on the big screen was OSC's Ender's Game, but it got scrapped and the IMDB page pulled down. OSC wanted too much control, final approval on script edits I think, and no studio was going to have that. It was a shame, but they probably would have messed it up. Ender would be a 15 year old and he would fall in love with Petra - or Val wouldn't be his sister, it would actually be his girlfriend. SOme such nonsense.

Oh my GOSH!!! This makes my week! Don't you think it's coincidental that they announce this right before the Eclipse premiere?
This will be better than Twilight, I'd have to say!
